He has worked in venues such as Buckingham Palace, Hampton Court Palace, and the Houses of Parliament, and is equally comfortable calling with recorded music or live bands.

A Long-Standing Commitment to Scottish Reeling

John founded The Reel Thing and the Spring Fling Ball, as well as the twice-yearly Young Gathering Balls, which have helped introduce a new generation to Scottish reeling. Between 2018 and 2024, he chaired London Reels and produced their popular YouTube tutorials covering the core Scottish reels.
