Music for Reels

A Scottish flag background with musical notes, a castle, and a church on a hill.

Great Scottish dancing needs great music - it’s essential!

If you’re hiring a band, make sure it’s a good one. I’m always happy to advise.

Hiring a caller with recorded music is also a brilliant option, often at a much lower cost – that’s the format I use for most of my events these days.

Here are some fantastic reeling albums I highly recommend:

🎵 Jim Lindsay & His Band – The Blackwatch Ball [link here]
The best collection of reeling tunes anywhere!

🎵 Ron Kerr & His Scottish Dance Band – Play the St Andrews Ball [link here]
A more old-school style, but still excellent.

🎵 Cavendish Dance Band - The St Andrew’s Ball V1 [link here]
Traditional and lively – perfect for a vintage reeling vibe.

🎵 Cavendish Dance Band & The Frank Reid Band - The St Andrew’s Ball V2 [link here]

I don’t earn anything from these recommendations - I simply love sharing great music to make every reeling night unforgettable!

Discovered other tracks that work well for reels? Let me know - I’d love to hear them!
